Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has been harsh when commenting on his team's wide receiving corps this training camp.

He offered a little further explanation Wednesday on some of his issues with the skill group, most notably fourth-year receiver John Brown.

"I don’t have any choice,” Arians said. “If he can’t run he can’t play. Now, if he can’t run long enough (after he returns), you’ve got to replace him," according to Darren Urban of the team's official website.

Brown was diagnosed with sickle-cell trait last season. The condition continues to affect his daily life, particularly by slowing his healing process, according to Arians.

"That's a fact," the head coach said.

Brown managed to play in 15 games last season, matching his number from 2015, but he posted career-worst totals in targets, receptions, yards, and touchdowns, finding the end zone just twice.
