Ezekiel Elliott: 'I strongly disagree with the league's findings'

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

Ezekiel Elliott released a statement Friday in response to his six-game suspension, claiming he disagrees with the NFL's findings and decision.

I am both surprised and disappointed by the NFL's decision today, and I strongly disagree with the league's findings.

I recognize the distraction and disruption that all of this has caused my family, friends, teammates, the Dallas Cowboys organization as well as my fans - for that I am sincerely sorry.

I admit that I am far from perfect, but I plan to continue to work very hard, on and off the field, to mature and earn the great opportunity that I have been given.

The Dallas Cowboys running back's attorneys also released a statement earlier Friday claiming the NFL's findings were full of inaccuracies and false accusations.

"The NFL's findings are replete with factual inaccuracies and erroneous conclusions and it 'cherry picks' so called evidence to support its conclusion while ignoring other critical evidence," his attorneys declared in the statement.

Elliott will appeal the suspension, which came about after an NFL investigation that included photographic evidence and a panel of experts who declared the 22-year-old guilty of being physically violent with his ex-girlfriend.
