Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill will be placed on injured reserve and have season-ending reconstructive surgery on his torn ACL, reports Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.
The Dolphins have prepared themselves to play the season without Tannehill, having signed Jay Cutler to a one-year contract.
Tannehill suffered a partially torn ACL last year and elected not to have surgery this offseason, but re-injured the knee during training camp last week.
The 29-year-old had yet to miss a game prior to last season. He has been Miami's starting quarterback since 2012, and is under contract through the 2020 campaign.
