The Dallas Cowboys could be without one of their top defenders for awhile following Tuesday's practice.

Defensive end Tyrone Crawford appeared to suffer a major ankle injury while trying to tackle running back Ezekiel Elliott, clutching his leg at the end of the play.

Although the Cowboys didn't reveal the severity of the injury, he was reportedly diagnosed with a lateral ankle sprain, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.

Crawford was later carted off the field and was seen crying while leaving.

Here is a video of the play:

Dez Bryant told NFL Network's Jane Slater that Crawford's injury changed the mood in practice, while rookie defensive lineman Taco Charlton revealed the team formed a prayer circle for their teammate after he was carted off.
