Titans rookie Corey Davis out at least 1 week with hamstring injury

Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Corey Davis will spend some time on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in training camp this week.

Asked about the No. 5 overall pick Friday, head coach Mike Mularkey indicated Davis is expected to be out for upward of one week.

"We're just going to play it by ear and see how it is," Mularkey said, according to Jim Wyatt of the team's official website. "He'll be out at least a week, maybe longer."

That initial timeline seems to suggest Davis will still have every opportunity to get healthy and get some preseason snaps under his belt before Week 1.

He'd have some catching up to do upon his return, though, as training camp is an important part of a young receiver getting on the same page as their new quarterbacks and acclimating to the pro game.

Davis can be expected to challenge for a role as Marcus Mariota's No. 1 receiver if he does return to the practice field sooner rather than later. For the time being, Eric Decker and third-round rookie Taywan Taylor should see an increased workload alongside Rishard Matthews.
