4 takeaways from McGregor's open workout

A Conor McGregor press conference is always an event, and Friday's open workout in Las Vegas was no different.

Media members swarmed the UFC Performance Center where McGregor did some shadow boxing and hit the bags before holding a press conference. "The Notorious" had quite a bit to say with more than two weeks to go before he faces Floyd Mayweather. Here are four takeaways:

The gloves

With the Aug. 16 vote to determine what size gloves the fighters will wear, McGregor not only expects the change to go down, but that it will seal an early victory for him.

"If we're eight ounces, I'm struggling to give him two rounds, and that's the God's honest truth."

2-sport athlete

As many fans are curious what McGregor will do after Aug. 26, the Irishman said he plans on competing - and excelling - in both boxing and MMA.

"I will contend in boxing belts going forward. I will contend in mixed martial arts belts going forward. I will rule both with an iron left fist."

'A beaten man'

No one can accuse McGregor of being short on confidence, but he had no problem attacking Mayweather's mentality.

"I see a beaten man in his eyes, in his body language, in everything he does."

The sparring partner

In his first media appearance since Paulie Malignaggi began publicly attacking him, McGregor brushed off who he called "a lovable mouthpiece."

"The guy is a mouthpiece. He got his ego badly dented ... It was concussion talk ... He got to exit under a cloud of questions and exactly what a mouth like him wants."

He also claimed to have sent footage of the knockdown that Malignaggi was offended by.

"We sent the footage of the knockdown. We sent the footage over, and I don't think they are refusing to show it."
