Emotional Cormier after loss to Jones: I guess there is no rivalry
Daniel Cormier was visibly upset after losing to Jon Jones by way of a third-round knockout Saturday night, and understandably so.
A long-standing rivalry led to the highly anticipated matchup, and Cormier had stated that making up for his previous defeat and earning a victory over Jones was the last thing he needed to accomplish in his career.
The disappointment was abundantly clear in the 38-year-old's Octagon interview after the fight.
"I don't know, man. I thought the fight was going well. I don't even know what happened," Cormier said. "I guess I got kicked in the head. Ah man, I'm so disappointed."
Asked about the rivalry, Cormier effectively conceded to his opponent.
"I don't know, man, I guess if he wins both fights there is no rivalry."
Jones is now responsible for the only two losses on Cormier's otherwise perfect professional record of 19-2.
