Barry Church: Jaguars have 'a lot more talent' than Cowboys

It's that time of year again, folks.

As players around the league report to training camp, no team is short on optimism. The Jacksonville Jaguars seem to have themselves an early and comfortable lead in that department.

The latest rose-colored outlook comes from Barry Church. After joining the Jaguars as a free agent this offseason, ending a seven-year run with the Dallas Cowboys, the veteran safety believes he's now surrounded by more talent.

"I feel like the culture is pretty much the same. I mean, we have a real close group, like we did in Dallas," Church told reporters Friday, according to The Dallas Morning News. "We have a real close group here. We had a real close group (in Dallas). I was just a little bit younger when we were in Dallas. I feel like we have a lot more talent than we had over here, so we're just gonna keep plugging away and getting ready for that Week 1."

Church's high praise for the Jaguars comes just days after both Malik Jackson and Calais Campbell predicted a Super Bowl title, the former going as far as to say that such an achievement would be reached with an undefeated season.

In all fairness, the Jaguars do have some reason to be excited about what's ahead. The defense is stacked with young talent to complement the likes of Jackson, Campbell, and Church, and first-round rookie Leonard Fournette will look to spearhead a power running game that would take some pressure off Blake Bortles.

But perhaps talk of a Super Bowl, and supremacy over one of the league's most promising teams, can be held off until we see how it all comes together on the field.

Jacksonville is looking to move back in the right direction after a 3-13 showing in 2016 marked the club's sixth consecutive losing season.
