Jerry Jones surprisingly at ease without Romo

For the first time in 15 years, the Dallas Cowboys will enter a season without Tony Romo on the roster.

It was admittedly a scary proposition for team owner Jerry Jones, a noted Romo fan, but with a big gulp, he's managed.

Jones talked about his quarterback situation on Sunday as the Cowboys gathered in Oxnard, Calif., for training camp and he said he's at peace, especially with reigning offensive Rookie of the Year Dak Prescott at the helm.

"I'm a lot more comfortable than I ever thought I'd be," Jones said, Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com writes. "This time last year and beyond, not having Romo ... that has every to do with the year Dak had.

"More importantly, the way Dak is approaching this year. We have a really good feeling about Dak. All of that makes this a lot more palatable and comfortable than I ever thought I'd be not having Romo on the team."

Romo announced in April he would retire from football in order to pursue a broadcasting career and has since joined the CBS Sports team. Prior to that, the Cowboys considered trading or releasing Romo who was due an expensive contract though he had been surpassed on the depth chart by Prescott.

The Cowboys enter the 2017 campaign with Prescott, Kellen Moore, Cooper Rush, and Zac Dysert at quarterback.
