Boras: 'No way' Rangers would trade Beltre

The Texas Rangers could be on the verge of a sell off before the non-waiver trade deadline, though agent Scott Boras is confident his client, Adrian Beltre, is staying put.

"There's no way the Rangers would deal Adrian," Boras told Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

Beltre has spent the last seven seasons in Texas, and the future Hall of Famer sits just 13 hits shy of 3,000 for his career - a milestone the Rangers would most likely want to see him reach in their uniform.

Despite playing in his age 38 season, Beltre remains productive. He's hitting .280/.366/.497 with eight home runs, 11 doubles, and 31 RBIs in 44 games, while playing above average defense. The four-time All-Star is under contract through next season, making him a key piece to hold onto should the team want to be competitive in 2018.

Though Beltre is likely to stay, president of baseball operations Jon Daniels still has plenty of other veterans he could move. Yu Darvish has generated a lot of interest of late, while Jonathan Lucroy, Carlos Gomez, Andrew Cashner, and Mike Napoli could also be dealt.
