Kam Chancellor finally got his pay day.
The Seattle Seahawks signed their star safety to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday. Terms were not disclosed, but it's reportedly a three-year, $36-million extension that includes $25 million in guarantees, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.
A new-money average of $12 million per season, presumably tacked on to the final year of his current deal, puts the 29-year-old second only to Eric Berry among the NFL's highest-paid players at the position.
Chancellor had long been seeking a raise on the four-year extension he signed in 2013, even going as far as to stage a holdout that stretched into the 2015 regular season.
The two sides managed to avoid a dispute last season, but it only made sense for a big-money deal to be worked out ahead of the upcoming contract year.
Alongside Earl Thomas' $10 million and Richard Sherman's $14 million annual averages, locking up Chancellor further widens the gap for the "Legion of Boom" as the NFL's highest-earning secondary.
Chancellor enters his eighth season as one of the more integral pieces on a loaded Seahawks defense. Maintaining a high level of production despite missing four games to injury last year, the four-time Pro Bowler racked up 85 tackles, two interceptions, and eight passes defensed.
