Report: Liverpool closing in on £8M deal for Hull's Robertson
Liverpool has all but completed an £8-million deal to sign Hull City left-back Andrew Robertson, according to the Guardian's Sachin Nakrani, Andy Hunter, and Dominic Fifield.
The Scottish international would become the Reds' third summer signing, following the arrivals of Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah.
More importantly, the 23-year-old would provide some relief to Liverpool's long-standing struggles at the left-back position. Speed merchant Alberto Moreno lacked enough defensive discipline to execute the role on a weekly basis and eventually lost his place to converted midfielder James Milner last season.
Milner, who has built a career on his utility status, acquitted himself well on the left flank, but it appears manager Jurgen Klopp wants a more natural fit there.
Robertson, 23, showed impressive dribbling skills and a sharp eye for passing despite being relegated with the Tigers. He was an ever-present component of Marco Silva's side, starting in 31 Premier League matches.
