Report: Knicks fill GM role with Kings VP Scott Perry
The New York Knicks have reportedly found their next general manager in Sacramento Kings vice president Scott Perry, according to multiple reports.
Perry, who was only brought on by the Kings in April, was granted permission by Sacramento to speak with the Knicks as the role signifies a significant promotion for the 53-year-old.
The Kings are reportedly seeking financial compensation in exchange for allowing Perry to pursue the position, per USA Today's Sam Amick.
After a season of dysfunction which put owner James Dolan, general manager Phil Jackson, and star players Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis under the microscope, the Knicks seem to have made a smart decision with the hiring of Perry.
The overhaul of the Kings' roster is a recent accomplishment that Perry has drawn praise for. After a successful draft headlined by the selections of De'Aaron Fox and Justin Jackson, Sacramento then signed a trio of accomplished veterans in Vince Carter, Zach Randolph, and George Hill.
Perry's resume also includes stints with the Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Detroit Pistons.
As a result of bringing Perry aboard, it's expected interim GM Steve Mills will take on the role of team president.
