Report: Yankees, Red Sox, Royals scouting Neshek
The Philadelphia Phillies' most valuable asset come the non-waiver trade deadline might be in the bullpen.
Right-handed reliever Pat Neshek is the club's lone representative at this week's All-Star Game, while his performance on the mound this season has generated interest from a number of clubs.
The Kansas City Royals, Boston Red Sox, and New York Yankees have reportedly all had scouts watching Neshek recently, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.
The 36-year-old is enjoying one of the best seasons of his 11-year career. He's posted a 1.27 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and 36 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings while allowing just two home runs and holding left-handed hitters to a .188/.231/.313 slash line.
Neshek, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, headlines what's expected to be a strong relief-pitching market that also includes David Robertson, Sean Doolittle, Justin Wilson, A.J. Ramos, Brad Hand, and Addison Reed.
