Pistons' Caldwell-Pope suspended 2 games for DUI
Detroit Pistons shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was suspended two games by the NBA without pay after pleading guilty to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
Caldwell-Pope's suspension will commence with the next NBA regular season game he's eligible and physically able to play.
The 24-year-old was stopped by police for speeding in Auburn Hills, Mich., in March. He was determined to be under the influence after a field sobriety test, leading to his arrest, and he registered a blood alcohol level of .08 (the legal limit).
Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy vouched for his player at the time, saying he's "a high-character guy" who made a mistake. Caldwell-Pope averaged a career-high 13.8 points on 35 percent 3-point shooting this past season.
