Report: Bulls trying to trade Jimmy Butler ahead of draft
Rumors regarding the future of Chicago Bulls forward Jimmy Butler have quickly been picking up steam, with the Bulls reportedly actively trying to trade Butler, rather than simply waiting for offers to come their way, according to CSN Chicago's Vincent Goodwill.
Moving Butler prior to Thursday's draft would effectively "jumpstart their rebuilding process," said Goodwin.
The Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers were named as the primary suitors, while the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets were also mentioned as potential landing spots.
One league source purportedly told Goodwin, however, that "it's either Boston or Cleveland."
Boston, though, supposedly has already turned down a direct swap of the third pick for Butler, according to Goodwin.
Goodwin also highlighted the "lack of a fruitful relationship" between Butler and head coach Fred Hoiberg as a point of contention.
