Watch: Popovich laughs off mock presidential campaign, hopes Kerr gets better
While Gregg Popovich won't say whether they'll someday run for president together, he does hold Steve Kerr in high regard.
The San Antonio Spurs head coach said he recently talked to Kerr, whose Golden State Warriors swept the Spurs in the Western Conference finals en route to winning their second championship in three years.
Pop had nothing but good things to say about his friend Kerr, who missed 11 games during the Dubs' 16-1 run while addressing pain associated with his back surgeries.
"We love him," Popovich said in an interview with KENS 5. "They whipped us, but it doesn't transcend friendship. He and (assistant coach Mike Brown) are enjoying themselves right now, and hopefully as time goes on, Steve will feel better and better about his own health situation. So that's what I'm most concerned with, that he gets healthy. He's a good man."
Popovich, who's been helping feed hungry children in San Antonio, is also a good man. So good (and woke), in fact, that there's a charitable organization selling "Popovich Kerr 2020" merchandise and an online petition for the NBA coaching duo to run for office together in three years.

When informed of the movement, Popovich laughed it off and said he's flattered.
