Juventus' Marotta: Chelsea made 'very high offer' for Alex Sandro

Alex Sandro is fulfilling his enormous promise, and Chelsea is taking notice.

Giuseppe Marotta, Juventus' chief executive officer, admitted Friday that the Old Lady turned down a proposal from Chelsea for Sandro.

"For Alex Sandro, Chelsea made a very high offer," Marotta said, according to Corriere della Sera and translated by theScore's Anthony Lopopolo. "We said no, but today players think for themselves."

Antonio Conte reportedly pushed for the signing of the Brazilian left-back, watching in frustration as Manchester City and Manchester United completed transfers in the market, according to the Guardian's Dominic Fifield.

Sandro joined Juventus from FC Porto for a fee of €26 million in 2015, and was at the heart of the Old Lady's sixth consecutive conquest of Serie A, as well as the Italian club's run to the final of the Champions League, where Real Madrid produced a 4-1 victory.

Bayern Munich's David Alaba is reportedly also on Conte's radar.
