Devonta Freeman: Feels like I'm 'about to be blessed' with new deal

The Atlanta Falcons' magnificent Super Bowl collapse hasn't stifled the confidence of Devonta Freeman.

After back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons, Freeman has been vocal about wanting a new contract throughout the offseason and expects to get one in the coming days.

"It's that feeling when you know something special is coming and you’re about to be blessed," Freeman told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's D. Orlando Ledbetter after minicamp Thursday. "It's just an exciting moment in time for me right now."

Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff is likely in a similar state of mind, recently saying he's confident a deal will be reached with the running back soon. Freeman is letting his representatives handle the negotiations while he focuses on football.

"I'm not rushing it, and I’m not impatient," Freeman said. "I’m just trying to make sure that my business is right as far as being in the best shape of my life. Being healthy, stronger, faster and being better at the same time."

The Falcons have about $6 million in cap space to work with as Freeman enters the final year of his current deal.
