Penguins would visit White House if invited
After reports swirled early Tuesday around the Golden State Warriors possibly declining their championship invite to visit the White House, the recently crowned Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins cleared the air surrounding their potential visit.
"The Pittsburgh Penguins would never turn down a visit to the White House and, if invited, we would go as a team," team president David Morehouse said in a statement, according to Greg Wyshynski of Yahoo Sports.
"We respect the office of the presidency of the United States and what it stands for," he said. "Any opposition or disagreement with a president’s policies, or agenda, can be expressed in other ways."
As Wyshynski points out, the Penguins visited the White House following the team's most recent Cup wins in 2009 and 2016 during former President Barack Obama's tenure.
