Texans' Brown absent at mandatory camp amid reported holdout

Houston Texans left tackle Duane Brown did not report for the start of his team's mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, which came after he skipped voluntary OTAs earlier this offseason - reportedly because he wants a new contract.

Brown has two seasons remaining on his six-year, $53.4-million contract with cap hits of $9.65 million (2017) and $9.75 million (2018), but none of the money is guaranteed moving forward.

"I don't have much to say on that. Obviously, Duane knows how I feel about him," head coach Bill O'Brien told ESPN's Sarah Barshop. "We'd love to have him here, but at the end of the day, the guys who are here, that's who we're coaching."

Brown, a three-time Pro Bowler, was not punished for his absence from voluntary sessions, but can be fined for missing mandatory practices. He has spent his entire nine-year career with the Texans.
