LeBron: 'I left everything on the floor every game'

To appreciate how good LeBron James is, you have to consider the possibility that he could have legitimately been named NBA Finals MVP even though his team lost in just five games.

James became the first player in history to average a triple-double in the Finals, which despite the ultimate result, is nothing to scoff at.

"I left everything on the floor every game, all five games," James told reporters after the Warriors' title-clinching Game 5. "I have no reason to put my head down."

Of course, an armada of observers and hot take artists may disagree. This Finals loss drops LeBron to 3-5 all-time in the championship round, something distant from Michael Jordan's 6-0 record, but not far off from Magic Johnson's 5-4.

That's when James tried to compare it to journalism for the sake of some of the media types in the room,

"It would be the same if you feel like you wrote the best column of your life and somebody picked another one over you," he said. "That's ... how would you feel? You know, so you wouldn't hold your head down, but you would be like, okay, it's just not my time."
