Following a knockout loss Saturday at a CBS Sports Network card in Sloan, Iowa, featherweight boxer Daniel Franco underwent surgery to stop brain bleeds and he remains in a coma as of Sunday, per ESPN's Dan Rafael.

Manager Ray Chapparo released a statement updating his client's condition.

"At this point the doctors have told us the next 48 hours will be critical in regards to him making a complete recovery," Chaparro said. "We ask for prayers from the boxing community at this time."

Franco suffered his second defeat by KO in his past three fights, this time falling to Jose Haro in the eighth round. The 25-year-old Roc Nation representative appeared to be alert in the moments directly following the bout, but after having to lie down on the mat, a stretcher was brought out to help Franco out of the ring.

According to a GoFundMe page set up for Franco, the fighter was put into a medically-induced coma by doctors who worked to stop two small veins in his head from bleeding.
