Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta reinjured his hip during Friday's OTA session and is undergoing tests to determine the severity, the team announced.

"This is incredibly disappointing, obviously for Dennis, and for the Ravens," general manager Ozzie Newsome said in the announcement.

"Dennis is one of the great Ravens, and he has done everything he can to make our team better."

Pitta's career was in serious jeopardy after he suffered a second hip dislocation and fracture in as many years in September 2014. However, he was able to make a seemingly miraculous recovery and was named a second alternate to the Pro Bowl last season, leading the Ravens with a career-high 86 catches.

If Pitta's injury is severe, it'll be a serious blow to an offense already lacking proven playmakers in the passing game, especially at tight end.

Benjamin Watson is 36 years old and is coming off a torn Achilles. Maxx Williams missed most of his sophomore year due to a knee injury which required a first-of-its-kind surgery this offseason, though he's set to be healthy for camp. And Crockett Gillmore had just eight catches in 2016 due to multiple ailments.

It's the second injury hit for Baltimore in as many days after cornerback Tavon Young tore his ACL on Thursday.
