If you're in the camp that's uncomfortable with the current domination of the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers over the NBA, then you may not like Jeff Van Gundy's viewpoint about the Warriors in particular.

"I see nothing preventing them from going to eight to 10 straight Finals," the former coach and ESPN/ABC broadcaster said on a conference call Tuesday. "The combination of offense and defense, and the talent they've been able to amass ... they have their youth, they have their health. It'll be a massive upset if they're not there each and every year."

Like the Cavs, the Warriors are heading to their third straight championship round - making this the first "threematch" in NBA Finals history. By Van Gundy's estimation, the Warriors may not yet be halfway through their run of dominance over the Western Conference.

The last team to make that many Finals in a row was the Boston Celtics, who reached 10 straight from 1957-66.

Whatever happens in The Finals, this summer will be a big one for Golden State. While re-signing Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant - aged 29 and 28, respectively - to long-term deals are anticipated to be formalities, the team may have hard decisions to make with key role players like Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston.

Other franchise cornerstones Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are signed through 2019 and 2020, respectively.

Van Gundy's broadcast partner Mark Jackson stopped short of comparing the current Warriors-Cavaliers superpower axis to other eras, such as the Lakers and the Celtics in the 80s.

"I think the difference with those times is those were truly great teams," Jackson said. "I don't know how many teams today had a truly legitimate chance of winning a championship with (the Warriors and Cavs in the picture). That's not to say anything negative about these two teams."

Van Gundy added: "I just wish that they'd been pushed harder."
