The Anaheim Ducks called upon Jonathan Bernier to begin the second period of Saturday's Game 5 against the Nashville Predators, replacing starter John Gibson.
The reason for a switch after a scoreless opening period was not immediately given, but prior to the start of the final frame, the Ducks announced Gibson was questionable to return due to a lower-body injury.
Gibson stopped all 10 shots against in the first period and did not return, while Bernier allowed two goals on 18 shots in the eventual 3-1 loss.
After the game, head coach Randy Carlyle listed Gibson as day to day, putting his status for Game 6 up in the air.
