According to Calvin Johnson, the Detroit Lions didn't handle the surprise retirement of their best-ever receiver very well.

While Johnson is quite confident he won't be coming out of retirement like his friend Marshawn Lynch, the former All-Pro receiver isn't very warm to the idea of rejoining his old organization in any capacity.

Johnson was asked about the possibility of the Lions retiring his jersey while hosting a football camp in Detroit this weekend and revealed things didn't end so well with the team.

"I don't even like to talk Lions too much just because the way our relationship ended," Johnson said Saturday to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. "If they see me around here, we’ll see. But hey, I don't know.

"I just didn't feel like I was treated the way I should have been treated on the way out. That’s all. I mean, it's all good. I'm not tripping. I don’t feel any kind of way, just hey, that's what they did. Hey, it is what is."

Johnson didn't go into specifics about what went down with the Lions after the 2015 season, though he did clarify it wasn't a possible trade that prevented his return.

"They told me they wouldn't trade me if I came back and stuff like that, but it wasn't about that," Johnson said. "It was about how I felt."

Over his nine-year career, Johnson set franchise records in career receiving yards (11,619), touchdowns (83), and catches (731), while establishing himself as one of the most dominant pass catchers the NFL has ever seen.
