Riyad Mahrez expects Leicester City to honour an agreement he had with former manager Claudio Ranieri and allow him to leave the defending Premier League champion this summer.

Interest in the Algeria international peaked last summer on the heels of his breakout season during Leicester City's march towards its first-ever Premier League title.

However, despite interest coming from all corners of Europe, Ranieri, who was relieved of his managerial duties in February, managed to convince Mahrez to stay for another season with the Foxes.

Although the 2016-17 campaign pales in comparison to the stunning developments of the previous season, the 26-year-old expects the club to uphold the agreement he had with Ranieri and give him a chance to pursue other opportunities this summer, according to Matt Law of The Telegraph.

Despite his failure to replicate the form that saw him win the PFA Player of the Year award last season, a deal for Mahrez is still expected to cost interested suitors over £30 million.

Arsenal and Tottenham are expected to renew their interest in Mahrez after the north London neighbours reportedly expressed an interest in the past. Arsenal's pursuit was scuppered last summer after Mahrez signed a four-year contract, while Tottenham failed to convince Leicester to sell him in January.

Interest hasn't been limited to England, as Marseille and Barcelona are also expected to join the pursuit.
