Cutler: Move to booth is permanent, 'zero doubt' there will be some regret

It doesn't sound like Jay Cutler will be pulling any punches in the broadcast booth.

While discussing his new position as a FOX Sports commentator on Friday, Cutler was candid in expressing his feelings about ending his football career.

"Zero doubt in my mind there's going to be some regret," he admitted on ESPN 1000 Chicago, according to the MMQB's Albert Breer.

While he knows he'll have his doubts, he also claimed his move to the booth is "permanent."

With no teams needing a veteran starter like Cutler, the 34-year-old would have likely had to wait for an injury training camp or until early in the season to find a new team. The former Chicago Bears quarterback admitted the transition isn't ideal, but he doesn't like the idea of joining a team in August or September.

There was some thought that he could he return to the Bears after his release this winter, but Cutler didn't get his hopes up about a return to Chicago.

"There's no way I'm coming back here, they're not bringing me back," Cutler said he told his wife in January, adding: "If I was still there, I'm playing still."
