Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry is still dealing with the painful effects of an ankle injury suffered Wednesday night in Cleveland and will be a game-time decision for Game 3 on Friday, he told reporters, via Eric Koreen of The Athletic.
Lowry exited Game 2 with a left ankle problem early in the second half. He managed to play a few more minutes while limping before being pulled for good at the end of the third quarter.
Unlike a typical sprain where the ankle rolls outward, the All-Star's ankle rolled inward. He underwent an MRI on Thursday, and is reportedly continuing to get treatment ahead of Game 3.
The 31-year-old finished with 20 points and five dimes in 29 minutes in Wednesday's 125-103 loss in Cleveland. He hasn't tested his ankle yet, having missed both practices since.
If Lowry ultimately suits up Friday night at the ACC, don't expect him to look like himself - he admitted making cuts and playing defense will be difficult given his bum ankle.
Should he sit out, Cory Joseph and Delon Wright figure to get more burn at the one-spot.
It's bad news for the Raps, who find themselves down 2-0 in the East semifinals against the defending champs. They were in the same spot in the conference finals last year, though, before racking up two straight wins at home on the backs of strong performances from Lowry and DeMar DeRozan. Toronto eventually lost the series in six contests.
