Watch: Steve Nash discusses love of soccer, how it impacted NBA career
Whistle Sports/YouTube
Steve Nash has a deep love for soccer. He played the sport growing up, hosts an annual charity soccer game, and has even trained with the New York Cosmos B Team of the National Premier Soccer League.
Soccer also had a big impact on Nash's NBA career, which he explained in this video from Whistle Sports, featuring Billy Wingrove and Jeremy Lynch of the F2 Freestylers YouTube channel.
"I don't think I would've made it to the NBA if it wasn't for soccer," he said. "I grew up with a dad who was a soccer player ... and he always wanted to see me be witty and creative, and fool someone, and put the ball where someone didn't think it was going. So that was my whole system of authenticating myself as an athlete."
