Holm says de Randamie's blows after bell were intentional, wants rematch

Holly Holm is none too pleased with how her last fight unfolded.

Holm lost a close decision to Germaine de Randamie in the UFC's inaugural women's featherweight title bout on Saturday, a verdict that garnered no shortage of controversy due to a pair of blows de Randamie landed after the second- and third-round bells. Shortly after the defeat, a visibly disheartened Holm expressed her surprise at the presiding referee's decision to spare "The Iron Lady" a point deduction following the second infraction.

"She hit hard shots," Holm said, according to MMAFighting's Dave Doyle. "She hit hard shots after the bell, those are the hardest shots I felt the whole entire fight.

"A lot of times, the first one they give a warning, that’s kind of normal. I wouldn’t expect them to take a point after the first one, even though it was intentional. The second time, at that point you think they’d do something."

De Randamie apologized for her transgressions and maintained they were unintentional, but Holm was not convinced.

"It wasn’t like the last punch of a combination after the bell rang. It was intentional and it was after the bell. What can you do?"

Had the referee taken a point from de Randamie, as many - including UFC commentator Joe Rogan - thought he should've, the bout would've been ruled a 47-47 draw on all three scorecards. Holm deemed the hullabaloo and the highly debated score were reason enough for her and the newly crowned champion to run it back, although she admitted her three-fight skid has left her with negligible bargaining power.

"I think it merits a rematch. When you have more than half the people saying the fight should go the other way, that warrants a rematch, so, that would be awesome.

"I’m sitting in a spot where my last three fights I’m 0-3, so I’m going to take whatever they give me."
