Agent: Liverpool target Forsberg could leave RB Leipzig in January

RB Leipzig could be without one of its breakout stars by the time the winter transfer window closes.

Emil Forsberg has attracted attention from "big clubs," according to his agent, after his impressive first-half performance helped vault the newly promoted side into the Bundesliga title race.

Forsberg's agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, added that a move in January has not been ruled out, but refused to disclose which teams have been in contact over a potential transfer.

"I can't confirm any names. But after the great first half of the season, big clubs have reached out to me," Cetinkaya said in an interview with German outlet Bild, as translated by ESPNFC's Sam Uersfeld.

"RB are on a good way to become a big club, which plays in Champions League soon. In spite of that I can't promise that Emil will stay in Leipzig this winter."

Liverpool has been linked with a move for the 25-year-old for the better part of a month. The Merseyside outfit, however, will reportedly face competition from Premier League rival Arsenal and Italian title holder Juventus.

Forsberg, who reportedly cost RB Leipzig just under €4 million when he arrived from Sweden's Malmo in 2015, is expected to fetch the Bundesliga side a transfer fee north of €20 million.

"It's about what Leipzig plans for him. I will seek talks with sporting director Ralf Rangnick in the next few days," Cetinkaya added.

Meanwhile, Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is hopeful Forsberg and the rest of his team will remain together.

"I'd like to think that all players currently with us will still be around at the end of the season," Hasenhuttl said at the team's training ground Tuesday.

The Sweden international's output through 16 matches - five goals and nine assists - has been a major factor behind Leipzig's success as the club sits three points off Bayern Munich's pace for the league lead.
