Report: Rams to interview Redskins OC Sean McVay
The Los Angeles Rams are scheduled to interview Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Sean McVay for their head coaching vacancy this week, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports.
McVay has continued to fly through the coaching ranks for his work at the helm of a Redskins offense which took a major step forward this season, finishing the year ranked third in total yards and 12th in scoring.
Still just 30 years old, making the jump to head coach would be an ambitious move for McVay at this point in his career.
Garnering interest for one of the league's most high-profile jobs is a clear indicator of the respect he's earning around the league, so it's certainly possible that he finds himself in a lead role sooner rather than later.
McVay would easily become the youngest head coach in NFL history if hired by the Rams, or another team, at some point this offseason. Lane Kiffin holds that title for the time being, as he was 31 years and eight months old when brought aboard by the Oakland Raiders in 2007.
