Polish superstar Robert Lewandowski was nearly struck by a firecracker during Friday's World Cup qualifier against Romania, the striker standing mere inches away when the projectile from the Bucharest crowd exploded inside the penalty area.

Play was halted for 10 minutes, and the Bayern Munich striker was tended to by medical personnel after the frightening incident.

He was able to recover and continue playing, however, and went on to exact a measure of revenge by netting a late brace to cement a 3-0 win for Poland.
