Jets' Marshall, Richardson had verbal confrontation after loss to Chiefs

New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall and defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson engaged in verbal combat following a Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Marshall and Richardson were fed up with the team's poor play, that's since continued in the midst of a four-game losing streak.

Jets head coach Todd Bowles confirmed the incident took place, dismissing it as no big deal.

"I was right there, I heard it. It was loud,” Bowles said to ESPN's Rich Cimini. "Yell down there, yell down here. It was no more than a normal training camp deal. It wasn't anything significant ... There were a bunch of people who had words because everybody was (ticked) off."

Marshall said both players were trying to find a resolution to the team's losing ways.

"It was problem solving, starting off the season really bad," Marshall said. "You guys understand how emotional and how intense the game is. When you come in the locker room after a loss like that and you're looking at each other, trying to problem solve, it may not always be the right time. Sometimes you have to give it a day or so for everyone to calm down and cool off and say, 'OK, what do we need to do to solve it?"

The Jets have slumped to 1-5, so Marshall, Richardson, and the rest of the team's leaders will need to find new ways of propelling the team out of the AFC East basement.
