Watch: Goldberg returns to WWE, accepts Lesnar's challenge for match

The rematch 12 years in the making is going to happen, as former WCW heavyweight champion Bill Goldberg will go one-on-one with "The Beast Incarnate" inside a WWE ring somewhere down the road.

Goldberg appeared on "Monday Night Raw" for the first time since 2004 to address the challenge laid down by Lesnar's advocate, Paul Heyman.

The sold-out crowd at the Pepsi Center in Denver lost their minds when Goldberg made his signature entrance, chanting his name at the top of their lungs. He appeared humbled by the response, seeming overwhelmed by the moment as he took the microphone from announcer Michael Cole.

Goldberg discussed being able to travel the world promoting the WWE 2K17 video game and acting as a superhero for children everywhere.

At 49 years old, with a long history of injuries, he said he considered not returning to the squared circle. However, Goldberg convinced himself that maybe he has one more "ass-kicking," "badass spear," and "devastating jackhammer" left in the tank.

With that, Goldberg made it official that Lesnar would be next on his hit list - and he'd also be his last opponent ever.

The behemoths fought in Madison Square Garden at WrestleMania 20, and Goldberg walked away with the win in a match clouded by controversy. The New York audience booed both men out of the building, as word had leaked before the bout that both men would leave WWE the following night.
