Report: Florida State, West Virginia nearing deal to open 2020 season
Paul Abell-USA TODAY Sports
Florida State and West Virginia are close to a deal that will see the programs square off in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff 2020 season opener, according to Mike Casazza of the Charleston Gazette-Mail.
The issues that remain to be settled are ticket allotment and payout for each program, according to Casazza.
The Mountaineers currently have Maryland and East Carolina scheduled for non-conference games, while the Seminoles have Florida and a trip to Boise State on their 2020 calendar.
There are ties for Florida State to the Mountaineers - legendary coach Bobby Bowden was a coach at West Virginia and current Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher grew up 31-miles from Morgantown, W.Va.
The two teams have played three times, with FSU winning all three meetings.
