Malik Willis' slide is finally over.

The Tennessee Titans selected the Liberty quarterback in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft after trading up to No. 86 overall in a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, who received picks 90 and 169.

Willis was projected to be the first quarterback off the board and a potential top-10 selection but instead endured arguably the most surprising slide of this year's draft.

Not only did the 22-year-old drop to the middle of the third round, he was also taken after Kenny Pickett (Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 20) and Desmond Ridder (Atlanta Falcons at No. 74).

Despite having the eyes of the NFL world upon him, Willis took his long wait in stride:

The highly athletic QB put up huge numbers in two seasons for Liberty after transferring from Auburn. He finished with 5,107 passing yards and 47 touchdowns against 18 interceptions, and 1,822 yards and 27 scores on the ground.

Willis will presumably sit behind Ryan Tannehill for at least one season. Tannehill is contracted for two more seasons, but the veteran's future is in question after he regressed in 2021.

Tannehill produced 3,753 yards and 21 touchdowns against 14 interceptions during the regular season as the Titans earned the AFC's No. 1 seed. He threw three interceptions in Tennessee's upset loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the divisional round.

The Titans could cut or trade Tannehill after the 2022 season and save $17.8 million in cap space while taking on $18.8 million in dead money, per Spotrac.

The 2022 quarterback class lacks the elite talents we've recently seen enter the league, so keep your expectations in check. Willis is the most exciting prospect in this year's crop. He has the tools to be a star at the next level, but he'll need to land with a patient team willing to build an offense around his skills. The 22-year-old is a very raw passer who can win with his legs early in his career until he gets over the challenging learning curve that comes with a jump from a smaller school like Liberty. A good coaching staff will be key to helping him improve his ability to read defenses and work through his progressions, as well as his pocket awareness. With that in mind, Willis would benefit from a situation where he's not asked to start right away.

The NFL Draft is a betting vehicle unlike any other. With a week between games during the season, no league provides more time for bettors to decide who they'll put their money on. However, a week becomes months with the draft, meaning the early bird gets the worm - or in this case, the value - which explains why we've been trying for months to get to the bottom of who'll top the 2022 event.

Like any betting market, we've tried to create value by making bets at prices before they shorten. Our calculated risks come from logical breakdowns of the draft, even if the NFL decision-makers can at times make picks devoid of much common sense.

First overall pick odds (Jan. 4)

No one knows who is going where. Even the Jaguars don't seem to know. Those claiming to have sources are likely being used by those sources to create misdirection that may benefit the team. We've long been at the forefront of the #NotHutch movement in this space, even when he was the favorite. Now, apparently, Aidan Hutchinson is not even the top edge rusher on the Jaguars' board.

Is there a bet left to make?

The word out of Jacksonville is that an offensive lineman is still in play, but the odds suggest that Ikem Ekwonu would be the tackle taken and not Evan Neal - as the former is up to +450 - if you're still hoping Doug Pederson will win the right to make the final call.

Player draft position over/unders (April 13)

We're sitting pretty with our Hutchinson Over 1.5 ticket at +225 now that he's -350 for Jacksonville to pass him over.

PLAYER	AS OF 4/16	AS OF 4/27
Kayvon Thibodeaux	U5.5 (+100)	U4.5 (-205)
Garrett Wilson	U10.5 (-115)	U9.5 (-130)
Jordan Davis	O13.5 (-160)	U14.5 (+125)

There were reasons the value was sucked out of those bets: The recognition that a team will scoop Thibodeaux up if available at the fifth pick, the 10th pick will more likely be used on a wide receiver like Wilson, and the Ravens would be a viable landing spot for Davis at 14.

Is there a bet left to make?

Not on these players, but more players have been lined than there were two weeks ago. The lesson: If you show up on draft week intending to get value in your bets, you're too late.

For player over/under bets, the best option might be at the league's highest-profile position.

QB markets (April 25)

This is where we're trying to have a little fun with uncertainty around these players, and the odds haven't changed much. Some are hinting that the Falcons like Malik Willis (+350) at the 8th pick, but those odds are a little short for me.

Is there a bet left to make?

Both quarterbacks are seeing their draft position crashing. Willis Under 13.5 (+100) is worth a play on the idea that someone - likely via trade - might grab the prospect with the most upside at the most important position. Willis (-190) is still the safer bet to be the first taken at his position.

First-round picks (April 18)

Value doesn't exclusively come with a plus sign in front of the number. That was evident with Jameson Williams (-700) and Trevor Penning (-500) - our two picks to definitely go in Round 1. The two are now listed at -3500 and -1000, respectively.

Is there a bet left to make?

Both Arnold Ebiketie's and Christian Watson's prices have slightly improved to go in the first round. Watson is +115 to go in the first 32 picks, but he's even-money to go Under 39.5. I'd sacrifice 15% of my payout to have the comfort of seven extra picks.

Positional totals (April 20)

Under 7.5 (+135) offensive linemen really got out of hand, as it's now -205. Meanwhile Under 1.5 (+200) safeties hasn't changed much and is an underdog still relying on players at more valuable positions to go late in the first round.

Is there a bet left to make?

Over 15.5 first-round defensive players is still widely available at -125. If you're worried about someone doing something crazy like drafting a kicker in the first round, making the same bet on Under 16.5 offensive players is the play.

Remaining bets

Heavily-juiced bets are a much better idea the closer we get to the draft since there's obviously less time for things to drastically change. With fewer opportunities to make a deal and all duplicitous options exhausted, more reliable information may come out as clubs bring more individuals into the decision-making. Loose lips sink ships, but they also provide last-minute betting opportunities if you're willing to pay the juice.

Last year, the fates of the top two quarterbacks were decided well before commissioner Roger Goodell got anywhere near the podium on draft night, with Trevor Lawrence predetermined to go to the Jaguars first overall and Zach Wilson pegged to go to the Jets at No. 2.

This year, intrigue around the quarterback position exists because few teams seem to be enthralled by Malik Willis or Kenny Pickett. Perhaps fewer feel compelled to use a first-round pick at the position. This creates an unusual amount of uncertainty.

If the Panthers could trade the No. 6 pick, they would probably do it in a heartbeat, especially given their reported interest in Baker Mayfield. Getting the signal-caller for cheap and trading down from the sixth slot for multiple picks would be ideal.

The Falcons (No. 8) and Seahawks (No. 9) have replaceable quarterbacks on their rosters, which is why they are each +350 to take Willis. This means a team looking to trade up for the former Liberty star should be on the phone with Carolina. So when it comes to where Willis gets picked, I would make that slot the favorite. However, the question here is: Who picks him there?

Saints +900

Willis isn't necessarily a Week 1 starter, so the modest commitment to Jameis Winston shouldn't dissuade the Saints from making a big move. There's a reason New Orleans added a second first-round selection in the eight-pick swap with the Eagles. The Saints allowed Philadelphia to stay in front of them in the middle of the round, which won't be as big a deal for New Orleans if the club planned to package the picks to move up for Willis.

The Saints won't want to show their cards, so this move won't be made before the draft. It's the type of deal that would need to be done after the fifth pick is made. At 9-1, we'd bet this on the idea that there's better than a 10% chance of it happening.

Buccaneers +3000

Here's a fun long shot. The Buccaneers got a quick glimpse of the quarterback room after Tom Brady's brief retirement. If the Panthers get Mayfield, they can then deal the No. 6 pick for the Buccaneers' 27th overall selection and a series of other picks to fill holes. Tampa Bay's roster will be stacked regardless, so why not just grab someone to learn from the GOAT?

Seahawks +500

The further the underwhelming Pickett falls, the greater the number of teams that come into play for the former Pitt QB. The Steelers sit at 20th overall, so other teams may need to hop in front of his local club to get him. One year younger than Sam Darnold, the Panthers may view Pickett as more of the same.

Next up would be Seahawks. Yes, they need everything. But in the waning years of his coaching career, Pete Carroll can't be resting his hopes on Drew Lock.

Lions +2000

Where teams sit in the draft order directly affects the odds of them picking one of Willis or Pickett over the other. For example, the Lions are the second favorite to select Willis because they own the second overall pick but are 20-1 to take Pickett since he would have to be taken closer to the Lions' 32nd overall choice.

However, the fact that the Lions have the No. 34 pick as well is key. Packaging the No. 32 and No. 34 picks to move up to grab a falling Pickett makes a ton of sense after they've already grabbed a star lineman at second overall.

Eagles +3000

It's worth a small wager that, should he fall to one of their mid-round selections, the Eagles add Pickett to their quarterback room. It's possible they're not as thrilled with Jalen Hurts as many are in the fantasy football realm.

The thing that makes the NFL draft most fun is the number of different positions there are on a football field. If you're picking high in the first round, how does the best cornerback compare to the best wide receiver available? You can draft in the mid-teens and still get the best player available at a position of need - like linebacker, safety, or interior offensive line. The No. 1 pick in a given year could be a quarterback, pass-rusher, or offensive lineman.

Two weeks before most NFL drafts, pundits and oddsmakers tend to make assumptions about who the best players are at each position. However, we've learned over the years that beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder.

Let's look at the markets on the offensive side of the ball to see where there might be value.

First QB selected

PLAYER	ODDS
Malik Willis	-175
Kenny Pickett	+130
Desmond Ridder	+1400
Matt Corral	+1800
Sam Howell	+2500
Carson Strong	+10000
Bailey Zappe	+10000

Willis moved from +150 to the odds-on favorite since this market opened months ago - though mock drafts seemed to align Pickett at No. 6 to the Panthers until recently. The market hasn't budged since that first move, an indicator that Willis would be a more likely choice in the top 10, whether that's to the Lions at No. 2, further down to the Seahawks at No. 9, or anywhere in between.

A price of -175 would be scarier if there were more than one contender, but in a two-horse race, it's still palatable to bet on a team buying in on Willis' upside.

First WR selected

PLAYER	ODDS
Garrett Wilson	+125
Drake London	+130
Jameson Williams	+400
Treylon Burks	+1200
Chris Olave	+1800
Skyy Moore	+5000
Christian Watson	+5000
Tyquan Thornton	+5000
Jahan Dotson	+5000

If only Al Davis were still around to call for the Raiders to draft a speedster no one else thinks is the best receiver of the group. Rumor has it that some teams have Williams (+400) atop their board - and all it takes is one team to like a player more than they do the favorite. There are some assumptions that the Falcons will take Wilson to start a run on pass-catchers, but they could simply have loved what they saw when Williams lit up their home turf in the 2021 SEC championship game.

First RB selected

PLAYER	ODDS
Breece Hall	-250
Kenneth Walker III	+200
Isaiah Spiller	+650
Kyren Williams	+1800
Dameon Pierce	+2000
Brian Robinson Jr.	+2500
James Cook	+2500
Tyler Allgeier	+2500

As a rule, the further down the board you expect the first selection of a position to go, the harder it is to predict which player it'll be. With teams chided for wasting a first-round pick on a player at the replaceable position of running back each year, there's no guarantee any of these players go in the first round.

Once you get into Round 2, it becomes more about fit for a team's offense, so I'd play this market a little looser. Sure, Hall and Walker were more decorated college runners, but splitting a unit between Robinson and Cook to create a +1250 bet could be worth a try, especially since we can envision a team taking a tailback from Alabama or Georgia and feeling pretty good about it.

In particular, Dalvin Cook's little brother has the lineage to go with elite receiving skills that a team might value higher than most. If no running back goes on Night 1, you also have a fun sweat for the second round after almost every other bet is decided.

First OL selected

PLAYER	ODDS
Ikem Ekwonu	-140
Evan Neal	+120
Charles Cross	+1000
Trevor Penning	+2000
Tyler Linderbaum	+2500

The buzz around the offensive linemen in this draft has been electric. At one point, Ekwonu and Neal were the top two choices for the Jaguars to pick first overall. Since I'm still not ruling that out, I'd bet both players to go No. 1 in a small-risk, big-reward play rather than try to figure out which team will take an offensive tackle first and which prospect is the apple of its eye.

Yet again we saw value in Texas in Week 9; yet again it took a considerable lead; yet again the team coughed it up in the second half. Longhorns football is holding everyone up at hornpoint.

Whether we aim blame toward Austin or Colorado State, which tripped and fell after leading 13-0 against Boise State, another 3-4 week slips the overall season record to 35-27-1. As we drift away from the dream of 60%, here are seven underdog value plays for Week 10.

SMU @ Memphis (+4.5, 70.5)

Things crashed down to earth for SMU last week. An almost-walk-off kick-return touchdown gave the Mustangs their first loss of the season. Their road win at TCU doesn't look as attractive in a new light, so I'm looking to fade the Mustangs now that it's been determined they're not a Group of Five team of destiny.

We're getting 4.5 points with Memphis because the Tigers haven't been what we'd previously grown accustomed to this season. After a week off, they can score on SMU to make this game interesting and potentially get a nice win at home.

Pick: Memphis +4.5

No. 5 Ohio State @ Nebraska (+14.5, 64)

We couldn't have been more confused by Nebraska, which has a reputation for hanging with good teams in a losing cause, giving 7.5 points to Purdue last week. Well, here we are! The Cornhuskers get their preferred situation as home underdogs against Ohio State, which is coming off a semi-sloppy performance versus Penn State.

I'm still waiting for the Buckeyes to justify their ranking with a big-time performance against a decent team. Two months ago, they were -14 at Minnesota; one month ago, they were -7.5 at Rutgers. Nebraska's better than both those teams, so while I expect an OSU win, the Cornhuskers should linger in the second half.

Pick: Nebraska +14.5

Liberty @ No. 16 Ole Miss (-10, 67.5)

The Hugh Freeze Bowl! The former Ole Miss coach returns to Oxford with a wounded team waiting. Now that the Rebels are through the roughest part of their schedule, and after Auburn outlasted them in a tough spot for Ole Miss, what do Matt Corral and Co. have left for a game that doesn't resonate?

Liberty has disappointed this season, but the high hopes for Malik Willis weren't unfounded. As long as he's involved, this game, which amounts to the Flames' biggest contest of the season, should stay inside double digits in an early kickoff spot for the faithful in The Grove.

Pick: Liberty +10

California @ Arizona (+12, 50.5)

I was hoping to avoid betting on Arizona this season. However, the Wildcats are showing some signs of life coming out of the fiasco that was the Kevin Sumlin era. They return home after hanging with USC, and they probably should've beaten Washington two weeks ago after taking a 13-0 lead into halftime.

California is 3-5, and the only time the Golden Bears have been double-digit favorites this season was at home to Sacramento State. The Wildcats are winless, but they're not Sac State.

Pick: Arizona +12

No. 17 Mississippi State @ Arkansas (-5, 55.5)

Mississippi State gave up a punt-return touchdown for the first score of the game against Kentucky last week. Then, all the Bulldogs did was shut down the Wildcats while getting anything they wanted offensively with Will Rogers and Mike Leach's Air Raid.

We're getting close to a touchdown because Mississippi State has suffered some unfortunate losses (Memphis, LSU) and a blowout at the hands of Alabama, but the offense is cooking and the defense has held up against the run-first SEC teams. This contest feels like a field-goal game, and I think the Bulldogs have a shot at the outright win.

Pick: Mississippi State +5

Clemson @ Louisville (+4, 46)

Clemson finally covered last week, and all it took was one of the most horrific beats in the history of time.

Now the Tigers head out on the road expecting their defense to slow down Malik Cunningham. Maybe it can, but then Clemson's offense would have to do something in turn to earn a late lead greater than a field goal. Both of these things happening Saturday seems unlikely to me.

Pick: Louisville +4

No. 24 San Diego State @ Hawaii (+7.5, 45)

This is probably my favorite bet. San Diego State is still somehow ranked after showing its true colors last week in a loss to Fresno, and the Aztecs are giving over a touchdown to Hawaii. The Rainbow Warriors are in prime position for an upset win as they're much better at home than on the mainland.

Pick: Hawaii +7.5
