Wyoming's Mark Nzeocha doubtful to return this season after knee injury

Wyoming's special teams may be in trouble with the loss of linebacker Mark Nzeocha.

Nzeocha is doubtful to return this season after suffering a knee injury in the Cowboys' 27-20 overtime loss to San Jose State, reports Mike Vorel of the Casper Star-Tribune.

"The outlook for him to be playing the rest of the year would be extremely doubtful," said head coach Craig Bohl.

Nzeocha leads the team with 59 tackles, and is tied for the team lead with two sacks.

“The x-factor in all of this is going to be special teams," Bohl said. "To the average fan, they don’t see how much the ball moves on a special teams play. Mark Nzeocha played critical roles on the punt team, he was on the kickoff coverage team and all of those things."

Wyoming is looking to either Devyn Harris or Jordan Stanton to fill the void left by Nzeocha's absence.
