Mississippi safety Cody Prewitt said that his team doesn't think No. 3 Alabama is playing up to its potential this season.
The comments were made following No. 11 Ole Miss's win over Memphis late Saturday night. "...we don't really think Bama is as good as they have been. And we're better than we have been," said the senior.
That comment was taken by media outlets on Sunday as pouring fuel on an already historic fire, as the two teams prepare for their contest Saturday in Oxford.
Needless to say, Ole Miss doesn't like Alabama. The Crimson Tide have won by at least 19 in four of the past five seasons. Ole Miss hasn't beat Alabama in over a decade, since Eli Manning led the Rebels to victory in 2003.
To make matters even more interesting, ESPN's College GameDay is making its first ever trip to Oxford Saturday.
"We understand that we haven't played a team that's going to be as good as Bama," added Prewitt. "We're looking forward to getting to the game plan and really nailing down all the tweaks and stuff."
One Jackson-based reporter didn't think the comments made were meant to be fighting words.
with "we understand that we haven't played a team that's gonna be as good as Bama." I doubt he was trying to take a shot at the Tide.
