When the kids don't get it, just suspend 'em all.
That's the method of thinking a high school football coach in Roosevelt, Utah employed when he dismissed every single player on his team after a loss Friday night.
While the timing of the decision could be criticized - the players likely assumed the team's performance Friday was behind the suspensions - the coach made it clear that other factors led to the call.
As the Sporting News reported, "head coach Matt Labrum grew concerned after guidance counselors at the school informed him of a student who had been bullied on a website and suspected the football players were behind it."
Players were also skipping and failing classes, as well as "showing disrespect" to teachers. "We don't want that represented in our program," Labrum told the Sporting News.
There is light at the end of the tunnel for the suspended players. Labrum offered his players the chance to earn back their spots on the roster if they showed up for a 7 a.m. meeting, where the coach distributed a letter titled "Union Football Character," explaining what the boys have to do in order to play again.
"The entire team has been attending study hall and going to a class on character development as well as performing community service," wrote the news outlet.
