Urban Meyer still doesn't understand why Tim Tebow isn't in the NFL

Urban Meyer may no longer be the head coach at Florida, but that doesn't keep him from thinking about his former Gators from time to time. The Ohio State head coach was front and center Tuesday at Big Ten Media Days and expressed his bewilderment that his former quarterback, Tim Tebow, can't find a job in the NFL.

"I still don't get that part of it," Meyer said, via NFL.com. "He's the second-most efficient passer ever to play college football."

A large part of the problem comes down to Tebow's accuracy, or more correctly his lack thereof. Tebow's career completion percentage sits at a woeful 47.9, which is among the worst in league history. Despite Tebow's heroics in 2011 for the Denver Broncos, he's thrown just eight passes since the start of the 2012 season.

Meyer concedes that Tebow's game isn't exactly suited for a conventional offense, but with the way offensive coordinators look for any kind of advantage in today's game, he's surprised they haven't found a use for the former Heisman Trophy winner.

"He had really good personnel around him [at Florida] and we utilized his skill very well," Meyer said. "I think in a traditional setting, it is difficult, but there's a lot of non-traditional offenses now in the NFL."

While it's incredibly unlikely Tebow ever plays in the NFL again, his former coach believes the future is bright.

"He'll be successful in whatever he does, but he's such a good player," Meyer said. "I just wish it would work out for him."
