Oklahoma is signing head coach Brent Venables to a two-year extension, the school announced Thursday.
The deal extends Venables through the 2031 season and includes an average annual salary of $10.5 million, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.
"Coach Venables is elite at building culture - not just in the locker room, but throughout the entire program," Oklahoma athletic director Roger Denny said in a statement.
"What I hope this extension says to our players is that in an environment that changes every day, we're investing in stability for our program. Amidst the disruption of college sports, Oklahoma will be a place where student-athletes will find consistency."
Venables holds a 32-20 record in four seasons as the Sooners' head coach. After a 6-7 campaign in 2024, the program bounced back and secured a spot in the College Football Playoff last year, ultimately losing to Alabama in the first round.
The 55-year-old helped Oklahoma finish sixth in the nation in points per game allowed last season. He spent the previous 10 campaigns as Clemson's defensive coordinator before joining the Sooners as head coach in December 2021.
Oklahoma will face UTEP in its season opener on Sept. 4.
