Late heroics keep Indiana at No. 2 in CFP ranks

The top of the College Football Playoff rankings remains the same after the second edition dropped Tuesday, with Indiana's late heroics versus Penn State proving enough to keep the Hoosiers at No. 2 behind Ohio State.

Omar Cooper Jr.'s incredible toe-tapping, game-winning catch in the final minute turned a crushing defeat into a thrilling victory for Indiana to help maintain its Big Ten championship collision course with the Buckeyes.

Texas A&M and Alabama remained Nos. 3 and 4 in the rankings. They're approaching a blockbuster matchup in the SEC title game should they get through the rest of the conference slate unbeaten.

The SEC once again leads the way in seeds 5-12, with Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas, and Oklahoma grabbing four of those slots. The current bracket features one all-SEC first-round matchup, as the Longhorns are projected to face the Rebels.

Texas Tech jumped to No. 6 this week, thanks to an impressive victory over previously unbeaten BYU. The Cougars dropped to No. 12, which would leave them out of the bracket alongside Oklahoma to satisfy the requirement of the top five conference champions making the field. No. 15 Miami and No. 24 South Florida are projected to take the last two spots as winners of the ACC and the American Conference, respectively.

The other tentative first-round matchups include Georgia hosting South Florida, Oregon facing Notre Dame in Eugene, and Texas Tech welcoming Miami to Jones AT&T Stadium.

The upcoming Week 12 slate features three games between ranked opponents, with Texas traveling to Georgia, Alabama hosting Oklahoma, and Notre Dame heading to Pittsburgh to face the Panthers.
