Report: Nebraska's Raiola out for year with broken fibula
Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola is out for the rest of the season with a broken fibula, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.
The sophomore signal-caller left Saturday's 21-17 loss to USC during the third quarter. He was helped off the field by the Cornhuskers' training staff but started jogging on the sidelines after leaving the medical tent. Head coach Matt Rhule told reporters postgame that Raiola wanted to return to the contest, but the medical staff advised against it.
The Cornhuskers went 6-3 with Raiola under center this season. His 1,909 passing yards entering Saturday ranked sixth among all quarterbacks in the Big Ten. He totaled 18 touchdowns and six interceptions on the year.
Freshman TJ Lateef filled in for the injured Raiola and is expected to be the starter for the remainder of the campaign. Lateef has played in three games this year, throwing for 261 yards and one touchdown.
Nebraska will face UCLA in Week 11.
