Warren Sapp is embracing his new role as a graduate assistant on Deion Sanders' coaching staff at Colorado.
The NFL legend told reporters Tuesday that, while he never had a desire to coach before, it's given him a new purpose.
"For someone who never wanted to do this, I'm really addicted to it right now," Sapp said. "The babies have really given me a purpose in life and I'm enjoying it."
He later explained that Colorado players are more eager to work with him than some professionals.
"I've worked with pros that'll get my phone number and tell me they're coming to Miami, and my house is a mile and a half from where they work out, and they'll never call," Sapp said. "These kids call me 5:30 in the morning, 'Hey coach, you gonna come watch tape with me?' It's crazy. I'm like, 'Yeah, give me a purpose to get off of the couch.'"
Sapp played 13 seasons in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders, the former of which he won a Super Bowl championship with in 2003. He was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
