Former Duke quarterback Riley Leonard is transferring to Notre Dame, he announced Tuesday.

Leonard threw for 1,102 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions in seven games while battling injuries in 2023. He also piled up 352 yards on the ground with four scores.

The 21-year-old was one of the most established quarterbacks in the transfer portal after posting 4,450 yards with 24 touchdowns against 10 picks over his time with the Blue Devils. Leonard has been a consistent threat rushing the ball, too, with 1,224 yards and 19 touchdown runs.

Notre Dame was in the market for a new signal-caller with starting quarterback Sam Hartman leaving for the NFL. The program went 9-3 and earned a Sun Bowl berth against Oregon State this year.

Despite being a relatively unknown three-star recruit from Alabama, Leonard is expected to garner NFL interest when his collegiate career ends.
