Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers will start against TCU on Saturday, head coach Steve Sarkisian announced Thursday, according to The Athletic's Sam Khan Jr.

Ewers missed the Longhorns' last two contests after sustaining a shoulder injury in the team's 31-24 win over Houston.

Redshirt freshman Maalik Murphy lined up under center while Ewers was unavailable. He struggled to replicate Ewers' command of the offense, throwing three touchdowns against three interceptions on 55.7% passing, but guided the team to wins over Kansas State and BYU.

Ewers has thrown for 1,915 yards, 13 touchdowns, and three interceptions while completing 70.9% of his passes in seven games this year.

Texas is currently the No. 7 team in both the Associated Press college football poll and the College Football Playoff rankings with an 8-1 record.
