Kentucky, head coach Stoops agree to extension

Kentucky and head coach Mark Stoops agreed to a contract extension through 2028 with amended terms, the program announced Tuesday.

The contract ensures any season with seven wins guarantees a one-year extension, while a 10-win campaign assures two more years. This includes the Wildcats' current 9-3 season, which previously guaranteed an extension through 2027.

"I'm excited to continue to build this program to national prominence," Stoops said in a statement. "We're on our way, and I'm more confident in Kentucky football than I've ever been."

Stoops took over while Kentucky was a 2-10 program in 2013 and has enjoyed five winning seasons since, including a 10-win campaign in 2018. He'll coach in a bowl game for a sixth straight postseason.
